If you’ve been looking for ways to become more sustainable, it might be a good time to look into conserving water with rain barrels.
“The Water Authority and its 24 member agencies, in partnership with the Solana Center for Environmental Innovation, are encouraging more people to save water this winter with special discounts on rain barrels.
Residents can order 50-gallon rain barrels through the Solana Center for $90 each (discounted from $149). Then, residents can maximize their savings by applying for a $75 rain barrel rebate (maximum two rebates per address) from SoCalWaterSmart through Dec. 31. The Solana Center will offer four pick-up locations for the rain barrels around the county during December.”
-San Diego County Water Authority
Rain barrels not only save money in the long run by providing a free source of water for irrigation, which eases reliance to the city’s supply of water, but also reduce runoff and can benefit plant-life.
