2019 Orchid Award for Collaborative Architecture

We are honored to announce that the Ilan-Lael Foundation won an Orchid Award for Collaborative Architecture! Designed by father-and-son team James and Drew Hubbell, this center has become home to events that bring people together from various places and backgrounds to work on a common goal, ranging from peace retreats to watercolor workshops.

Hubbell and Hubbell’s Farrar Green Home won an award for outstanding design and environmental sustainability. The home was the 2014 California Green Homes Program Home of the year, awarded by the San Diego chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The Farrar Green Home is a two-story, four-bedroom, three-1/2 bath home with a view of Lake Hodges. The house utilizes passive design, solar panels, geothermal heat, and sustainable interior finishes as part of the goal to achieve a net-zero-energy design.
