We got a blast from the past – well actually two blasts – when one of our past clients, Steve, reached out to share a special story with us. We designed a net-zero, ICCF house for Steve near the Elfin Forest in Escondido, California. Recently, Steve was on a visit to Uganda and met Dr. Gladys Kalema Zikusoka, the founder of Conservation Through Public Health (CTPH). Drew Hubbell and his father, James Hubbell, worked with Dr. Gladys and CTPH to create a home for gorilla research in Bwindi, Uganda. During Dr. Gladys and Steve’s meeting, she mentioned to Steve that her and her husband plan to someday build a home in Bwindi and that they want to have Drew Hubbell as their architect. It was at this moment that Steve and Dr. Gladys experienced the classic “Small World” feeling!
We are so happy that these two crossed paths and shared a connection created by two of our designs. We thought this was a good opportunity to reflect on two past projects so we will be sharing more on each project in the upcoming days – keep an eye out!
