We’re excited to share a major milestone: our first fire rebuild home following the Palisades Fire is officially under construction.
Located in Malibu, this 2,177-square-foot residence has reached an exciting stage, with the foundation slab now poured and the insulated composite concrete form (ICCF) walls beginning to take shape.
This home is being rebuilt as a Like-for-Like project within Los Angeles County, allowing it to move through the County’s expedited rebuilding initiative designed to help homeowners recover and return home as efficiently as possible.
Built on a raised building pad, the home will maximize sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean to the South and the Santa Monica Mountains to the North, while the concrete slab floor will serve as thermal mass to passively regulate temperatures year-round. A subtle butterfly roof will introduce a clean, modern aesthetic while aiding natural water drainage and advantageous angles for a solar array.
Designed with resilience in mind, the residence features insulated composite concrete form walls for exceptional strength, energy efficiency, and fire-resistance. ICCF walls boast an impressive 4-hour fire rating! The home also will have a Class A standing seam metal roof—the highest fire-resistance rating available under building codes. The standing seam system’s interlocking metal panels provide outstanding durability and long-term protection, making it an ideal choice for California’s wildfire-prone environment.
The 2025 Palisades Fire forever changed the communities in Los Angeles County, claiming 12 lives and destroying more than 6,800 structures, including over 5,000 homes. Today, every rebuild represents more than new construction—it represents resilience, renewal, and the opportunity to create homes designed for a safer future. Rebuilding is about more than replacing what was lost. It’s about creating homes that are safer, stronger, and built for the future. We’re honored to help our clients take this important step forward and look forward to sharing the progress along the way.
