Designed by Hubbell & Hubbell using the innovative Perfect Block Insulated Composite Concrete Form (ICCF) system, this San Diego ADU was completed in 2024 and recently had professional photos taken by TruVUE Productions. Built in approximately 11 months, the three-bedroom, two-bath unit was envisioned as both a premium rental opportunity and a future home for the owners themselves.

Planned with long-term comfort and flexibility in mind, the ADU features high ceilings, expansive west-facing windows for abundant natural light and coastal breezes, a built-in electric fireplace, and a private outdoor shower. The layout was carefully positioned at the rear of the property to preserve privacy between the main residence and ADU, while mature trees create a serene outdoor setting with filtered light and shade.
Located near several hospitals and universities, the solar-powered, fully furnished unit offers an ideal mid- and long-term housing solution for traveling nurses, medical professionals, and academics.

Perfect Block technology offers a wide range of performance advantages, including exceptional energy efficiency, superior fire resistance, enhanced sound insulation, improved indoor air quality, and the ability to withstand extreme weather conditions far beyond traditional wood or metal stud construction. This resilience factor is increasingly important in California, where wildfires are abundant.

Over the years, Hubbell & Hubbell has designed dozens of ADUs throughout San Diego County, integrating green building strategies such as passive solar design, reclaimed materials, natural ventilation, and high-performance building systems.

We believe ADUs have the power to provide flexible, inspiring living spaces while contributing to more sustainable communities. Seeing these projects come to life — especially through innovative technologies like Perfect Block — is always incredibly rewarding for our team.
