We invite you to join us for a showing of paintings, poetry, sculpture and more by James Hubbell. “What Must Be Hidden” is only the second artist show to be held at St. James by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in La Jolla. This intimate community venue will play host to the exhibition for two months. Organizers have also planned several interesting events around the exhibition:
Friday, May 19 6 – 8pm Opening Reception – meet James Hubbell
Sunday, May 21, 5-6pm Taize Service is a lovely reflective service with a reception following. The exhibit will be open before and after.
Friday, June 9 , 6 – 8pm Conversation between Rector Mark Hargreaves and Drew Hubbell about James Hubbell’s work.
Sunday, June 25 3 – 5pm, Marianne Gerdes, Executive Director of the Ilan-Lael Foundation speaks on The Art and Studio of James Hubbell. A 5pm Evensong service sponsored by the Episcopal Community Service with the Bishop present, followed by a reception from 6-8pm.
Friday, July 7 6-8pm Marianne Gerdes, Executive Director of the Ilan-Lael Foundation speaks about the public installations of James Hubbell
Sunday, July 23, 11 to 2pm St. James Day and Exhibit Closing. Join the community for a barbecue on front patio and view the exhibit for the final time. Church is from 10 to about 11:15. St. James Day is a big celebration!
