We are looking forward to Drew Hubbell speaking in Grace Farms, Connecticut at the Humanity in Architecture Film Festival. The film by Gerdes Creative, “James Hubbell: Between Heaven and Earth,” will be shown between 1:15 – 2:50pm on Saturday, January 31st followed by a Q&A with Director Marianne Gerdes, Drew Hubbell (Architect, Principal of Hubbell & Hubbell Architects) and Kyle Bergman (ADFF Founder and Director).

These events are hosted in collaboration with Architecture & Design Film Festival:

“Immerse in a weekend of curated films and one-of-a-kind Grace Farms site experiences designed to honor the pivotal moment when one person commits to designing and building for the benefit of humankind and the Earth. Watch stories of bold, genius dreamers who put seemingly impossible ideas into action in the fields of architecture and design…”

“James Hubbell has spent a lifetime in dialogue with the world, using art and architecture to give form to his beliefs. Living in harmony with nature at his Southern California mountain home, Hubbell has created exquisite works commissioned for churches, synagogues, parks—even a palace. Melding tile, glass, iron, clay, and stone into unified expressions, he transforms every element—from door handles to rooftops—into art. At age 87, his quiet but powerful voice reminds us that creativity transcends age, strength, and scale. Between Heaven and Earth is a moving portrait of an artist whose work speaks when words fall short.”

James passed in 2024, but his message and teachings live on through his work and the Ilan-Lael Foundation. If you are in the Connecticut area & interested in purchasing a ticket for the film festival events, visit their website.
