One of our organic and sustainable residential designs is taking shape in Escondido, California! The steel roof beams have just been installed and we are so excited to share some photos.

The first photo shows the roof ridge beam being brought in by a crane. This beam has a radius as the entire roof of the home is slightly curved. The next several photos are all taken from a similar view and show the progress of construction so far.

The walls are Insulated Concrete Form and provide high thermal and acoustical insulation as well as fire rating. The roof will be foam sandwich panels and will sit on top of the steel beams.

The last photo is an interior rendering – take from the same view – and shows what the final product will look like. A completely enclosed boulder will remain in the house, while another boulder pokes through the exterior wall. The underside of the curved roof will be finished in natural plaster and will be accented by the exposed steel beams while the stained concrete floor will remain as the finished floor to relate to the natural look of the boulders.
