THE FIRST ICCF ADU IN SAN DIEGO
San Diego, CA
This 1,100 SF Accessory Dwelling Unit, sits on the edge of a canyon in San Diego and was designed to include 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open concept kitchen and living space. There is a large partially-covered deck that serves as an extension of the living area. The space between the Main House and the ADU has been landscaped to create a privacy buffer between the two dwelling units. This space features native plantings, an outdoor lounging area, and a hot tub. The Main House and ADU are partially powered by solar panels which sit on the ADU’s standing metal seam roof.
This unit was the first ADU in the city of San Diego to be permitted and built with Insulating Composite Concrete Form (ICCF). ICCF block is a sustainable alternative to traditional wood stick framing. The blocks are made from cement and post-consumer Styrofoam and are much larger than standard CMU blocks. The interior and exterior finish material is stucco / plaster which is a healthy alternative to traditional finish materials.
ADUs are very popular in California right now. They can be rented out to create another source of income, can be used as an in-law apartment or can just provide more space for you and your family. Do you think you could benefit from an ADU? Reach out to us with any questions!
