During the 4pm session this Saturday, November 6, Drew Hubbell will present a lecture and slideshow about building with Perform Wall fire-resistive concrete forms at the Bright Green Future Conference. This session also includes a straw bale building presentation by builder Mark Tighe.
The conference, a project of San Diego EarthWorks, will be held at the Ernest and Jean Hahn University Center at the University of San Diego. Driving directions and more information about this free conference are available at brightgreenfuture.net.
About the presentation:
“Green, Energy Efficient & Fire Safe Building: Perform Wall”
Perform Wall is a building-envelope technology with a four-hour fire rating. That means the material can withstand direct heat from fire, (tested with a blow torch at 1700 degrees), for four hours before the interior temperature rises 10 degrees. It is made from a combination of Portland cement and recycled styrofoam, and has a much higher energy efficiency rating (R-value) than standard 2×4 construction. It also provides increased seismic stability compared with wood-frame buildings. You can build a home from the ground up with Perform Wall, or cover your existing home’s exterior to vastly improve it’s fire resistance and energy efficiency. Learn more about Perform Wall from renowned local architect, Drew Hubbell, who has designed and overseen the construction of several Perform Wall homes in the San Diego area.
