The Courtyard Residence
Bonita, California
Our clients are big fans the late architect Norm Applebaum and of early modern design principles including low sloped clay tile roofs, exposed wood ceilings, clay tile floors and clearstory windows. Therefore, the Courtyard Residence draws from these elements as well as traditional Spanish courtyard homes.
The home surrounds a central courtyard on a beautiful site on the edge of Rancho Sante Fe. The structure rests gently on the site, preserving the natural contours of the site. The floor plan integrates bridge elements between rooms, framing views and creating connection to nature. There are numerous outdoor patios incorporated into the home which encourages outdoor living.
The home integrates natural materials throughout including beautiful earthen plaster interiors by Simple Construct.
