What is recycled steel framing?
Steel is 100% recyclable. It can be recycled over and over again and is one of the only materials that does not lose it properties when recycled. This means that it is just as strong and durable as new steel made from iron ore. Therefore, items like construction materials, cars, appliances, and furniture can all be made from recycled steel. Companies will recycle old cars and appliances to create new items like recycled steel framing.
Benefits of using recycled steel:
- REDUCES CONSUMPTION: Using recycled materials helps keep items out of the landfill. It also helps reduce the amount of new material being created by mining or harvesting virgin material.
- REDUCES ON SITE WASTE: Some materials, like steel, aluminum and glass are infinitely recyclable. Time and time again, they can be recycled into new products. This means that any construction scraps can be recycled further reducing the amount of items going to the landfill.
- REDUCES ENERGY: The energy required to recycle a material is often many times less than that needed to produce it from virgin materials.
