Designed as a sculptural retreat nestled within the Mt. Soledad residence, this extraordinary guesthouse was commissioned by two physicians seeking a space unlike any other. More than a guest residence, it was envisioned as a sanctuary where one of the owners could meet with clients in an environment so calming and immersive that they would momentarily forget the reason for their visit.

Regarded as one of James Hubbell’s most refined architectural works, the domed structure seamlessly blends art, architecture, and nature. Visitors are welcomed by a tranquil entry fountain before ascending to a rooftop terrace offering sweeping views of San Diego Bay. Inside, handcrafted stained glass clerestory windows bathe the interior in shifting hues of light, creating the ethereal sensation of being beneath the surface of the ocean. Every detail was carefully composed to evoke wonder, serenity, and a profound connection to the surrounding landscape.
